You know those dogs that aren’t quite like other dogs? The ones with malformed or missing limbs, or mangled faces, or no eyes? You see those dogs, be it in real life or on the Internet, and you know some shit went down somewhere. Birth defect, injury, abuse, something went very wrong at some point in each of those dog’s lives and rendered them different dogs than nature intended.
I have a pan that is dishwasher-safe but that will hold a lot of water at the end of the cycle. So I try (and often fail) to remember to take it out of the dishwasher as soon as possible. My usual reminder is to put the measuring spoon I use to feed the dogs in the dishwasher because I have to grab that at certain times otherwise there shall be no peace as my poor dogs wither away to nothing.
This morning as I was putting away groceries I said to myself “that’s a weird-looking bird and why do they have a bird on the box anyway?” and then I realized I should probably have more coffee.
I’m blessed to be part of a family of creatives. And while each of us has our strengths, we all dabble in multiple endeavors. Writing, painting, sculpting, photography, cooking, sewing, modeling, gardening, crafting, if it’s a thing that involves making things, we do it.
Once upon a time, there was a thing called OSFA. It stood for “One Size Fits All” and was considered a legitimate clothing size.
Then people started saying things like “this is 4 feet too long” and “I can’t get this past my knees” and “is an 8 inch neck circumference really the norm for adults?” and various other responses to the One Size Fits All designation that translated to “the fuck it does”.
After a long hiatus, I’ve decided I want to do NaNoWriMo again this year. I completed it every year from 2003 to 2010, then life got a bit crazy and… yeah. But the time has come to make it a priority again.
So to get back in the habit of focusing on creativity every day, I wanted a warmup month. Hence Blogtober.
This post is about periods so if you don’t want to read that…
I had a goal in 2018. I had a lot of goals, actually, but one specifically. That goal was to make my way through as many of the recipes in The Bob’s Burgers Burger Book as I possibly could.
