April 2013 – Umbrellas

Close and warm beneath,
hand in hand well-prepared to
weather any storm

umbrella escapes
flying high, a lonesome bird
wind sings in the wires

brilliant brolly as
a Brit would say when sky falls
prevents pain in head

In Mid-April, clouds
shed their sky; our umbrella
sprouts for our kissing.
~John K.

opens spring green…
may apple

burnt umber Ella
hanging high on my wall
monotone mem’ry

why would I want that?
I can’t catch frogs with one hand
I’d rather get soaked

Open to keep dry
But it looks so unhappy
Upside down makes smiles?
