Unequivocal

Your x
My y?

The answer is obvious:
Infinitely,
Linear
He(wants)Me/I(want)You(want)Her
Unequivocally.

Plus,

Distance
Unequal
I cannot carry
You

From Her
Higher power.

I cannot remain
a constant
multiple.

Dropping
me
is the best
solution.

Down with Food

I’m not a vegetarian
but I can live
without meat
because there’s so many
nuts out there.

Percussion

Selfish
I lie
on listless sheets
your whisper
beats
dab and patter
like soft rain.

My skin is a cushion-
a sponge
soaking
in your soft percussion

Beats.

My body’s a bridge-
an arch
rising
aching
over deep crescendo

Beats.

My love is a pulse
thumping
in my neck
pounding
in my blood
rushing
in my head
washing
me
away
in
sweet
heat.

Selfish
I lie listless
My heart

Beats.

Manhattan

In my face

with your whiskey intensity,

your “I’m gonna get me some” smirk,

and that “I know she wants it” confidence-

that makes me laugh through my teeth,
and drink faster than I should;
and say things like “It’s getting late…
I’ve got shit to do tomorrow.”

Which makes you half-step

to the side,
and jiggle

the ice

in your glass,

and check the watch

you’re not wearing.

Which gives me the chance

to pat your arm

like a friend

and say,
“Have you met Katie?

She makes a

perfect

Manhattan.”

One Got Away

You gave your whole heart

And I let the best part

Run down my thigh

Form into a line

To balance our love on

We labeled it fun

It was fun while it lasted

Too bad we were wasted

On bourbon and water

Could’ve lasted longer
