February is my birthday month, and I had a present made for myself. In collaboration with Square Bear Collective, it tickles me to no end to introduce Bearlean Carpenter.
Since everything is better with friends, I want to share the Bearleans with you. There are 10 total. Each is hand-numbered and signed. Bearlean 10 will stay with me. Bearleans 1-9 are up for auction, and all proceeds will be donated to The San Jose Animal Care Center.
How the auction works
1- Bid by leaving a comment on this page with the amount of your bid in USD. Opening bid is $20.
2- Bid increases must be a minimum of $1 and a MAXIMUM of $5 (more about that in a minute)
3- The auction will run through March 1, 2019, 11:59 pm PST. Winners will be notified via email on March 4.
4- The highest bidder will win Bearlean #1, second highest #2, third highest #3, etc. This is why I’ve set the maximum bid increase at $5. If a group of big spenders wants to start a bidding war later in the game, believe me, I’m all for letting you do that. But I’d also like to give as many people as possible a chance to participate while staying within their 2019 Handmade Novelty Bear Budgets (you all have those, right?)
5- Winning bidders agree to pay shipping of $5 US, $10 Canada, $18 International.
What You’ll Get
These bears are hand-crocheted with love and attention to detail. All of them are similar, but no two are exactly alike. They measure 12″ high and 9″ wide, not including hands and feet.
And in addition to the signed & numbered Bearlean, all winning bidders will receive a signed 8×10 print of this photo.
But wait, there’s more!
There is one very special Bearlean that we won’t be auctioning off. We call her Bear Zero. She was the Bearlean prototype, the original model, before we decided to change a few things for the final version. And she is the prize in a drawing we will be having once to auction is over.
How to Enter
1- All bidders in the auction who do not win a bear will receive one entry into the drawing for each of their bids.
2- We will be posting about this auction on our Facebook page on February 4th. Each share of that post will count as an entry into the drawing. (Make sure your share is public so we can see it)
3- We will also post it on our Instagram, same date. Share that post with #squarebearcollective and tag us @poeticpinup
Please email [email protected] if you have any questions, or if your bid has not posted to the page within 24 hours (I will be monitoring comments like a hawk, so if you don’t see it by then it means something has gone wrong and we will fix it).

Okay, since technically there was a $40 bid before the deadline and within the max increase parameters, but the most recent bid was $37, and I’m not sure what the most fair way of deciding that is, I’m extending the auction deadline until midnight tonight. Have at it, bidders, this all puts food in bowls for shelter critters ❤️
