This set was originally shot in 2008 and about 25 images were posted, split into 3 separate galleries. It was re-edited, expanded and unified in 2022.
We were shooting in low light (two candles and a small table lamp) with a camera that simply wasn’t suited for low light, and as a result the technical quality of the images suffered. I chose to lean heavily into those flaws in re-editing rather than try to correct them, hence the deliberate graininess and imperfections you see here.
Because the women I was thinking of when this set was shot, the Jeans and the Jaynes and the Marilyns, their lives were grainy, and gritty, and lines were constantly blurred between who they were and how they were perceived.
